The Association’s first effort using the CGNA News to start the fund raising has produced $8,045 from area residents.   These residential funds along with the $6,000 pledge from the Sacramento County Probation Office puts us well on our way to a third camera.  The Association has mailed donation cards to each home in the area that has not already made a donation encouraging them to “Invest in the Security” of our community.   Join the Association and the Sacramento Police Department in supporting this pilot program and encourage your neighbors to do the same.

CGNA Hosts Candidates & Community Forum

On Thursday, May 5, the College-Glen Neighborhood Association hosted a Candidate and Community Forum at the Station 60 Firehouse.  The evening began at 6:30 pm with light refreshments and socializing, then the program kicked off at 6:45 pm with an update from CGNA President Annette Deglow speaking to a full house.  She discussed the CGNA Foundation’s efforts to raise funds for five police observation device (POD) cameras, to be placed at various entrances to the neighborhood.  This effort is in partnership with the Sacramento City police department and is supported by 90% of residents who responded to a recent survey.  To date, the Foundation has raised $5,785, and each camera will cost the Foundation $6,000.  Annette also provided an update on cell tower funds and CGNA’s complaints filed with the Sacramento County Grand Jury alleging the misuse of these funds.

CGNA Special Meeting Update

Three issues were reviewed at the Special CGNA meeting that was held on February 16, 2016: Utility Tax, Cultivation & Sales of Cannabis related products and Cell Tower Funds

Those attending unanimously opposed the proposed 40% Utility Rates increase and supported a Safety Fee for cannabis cultivators and dispensers and supported the CGNA proposal that All local sales tax associated with the cultivation and sale of all cannabis products to be used to off set cost of upgrading the City’s infrastructure.

In addition there was unanimous support for asking the Sacramento County Grand Jury to conduct an investigation to determine if the use of neighborhood cell tower funds by the Mayor and members of the City Council equated to bad policy or an impermissible use of public funds and misuse of public funds for political purposes.

The Oki Cell Towers revenues redirected from the 1996 to 2000 Oki agreements from 2011 to 2015 generated approximately  $ 205,520.10.

The Association filed a Complaint with the Sacramento County Grand Jury on February 16, 2016 and most if not all of the residents attending the CGNA Special meeting joined the Association Board and signed complaint forms and post cards asking for the return of the Oki Cell Tower revenues to their respective accounts.  A copy of the CGNA Complaint and attachments are below for your review.
